Audiology

Audiology is a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and related disorders.

At Union Medical Group, our certified audiologists hold a doctorate degree in Audiology. Our highly experienced clinicians are trained in the testing, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing loss.

Union Medical Group – Audiology, located in the Medical Office Building on the Union Health campus, is the largest audiology department in the Wabash Valley that specializes in all areas of hearing health care. We are one of the most referred to audiology departments in the Wabash Valley by area schools, pediatricians, and family physicians. We routinely perform testing on newborns to adults, provide preventative hearing loss education and treat the three most common areas of hearing loss.

Conductive Hearing Loss – outer and middle ear problems often caused by fluid in the middle ear, common colds, allergies, and Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Sensorineural Hearing Loss – permanent inner ear damage often caused by prolonged exposure to excessive noise and/or aging.

Mixed Hearing Loss – combined damage of the outer or middle ear and inner ear, which may affect the nerve pathway to the brain.

We offer comprehensive hearing evaluations for all ages; including case history, outer ear visual exams, pure-tone testing, bone conduction, and speech testing. If you need hearing aids, we will discuss your options with you based on your needs.

Our audiologists also provide assessments for problems with balance. If you are experiencing dizziness when you lay down, bend over, or turn in bed, we may be able to help.

There are endless benefits to good hearing. Hearing connects us to people – enabling us to communicate in a way that none of our other senses can achieve.

Hearing issues are widespread and do not discriminate based on age, gender, or ethnicity. A number of audiology services are offered at Union Medical Group.
