Neurology & Neurosurgery

Neurologists and neurosurgeons both have an in-depth understanding of the nervous system and its functions. However, neurologists focus more on the management or correction of chronic conditions that do NOT require surgery, while neurosurgeons treat issues that require surgical intervention and may care for patients with more complex neurological conditions.

If a patient has been diagnosed with a brain or nerve condition, highly skilled physicians providing their care is a top priority. At Union Health, our Neurology and Neurosurgery teams focus on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders that affect the entire nervous system, including the spinal column, spinal cord, brain, and peripheral nerves.

Neurology

Neurology is the branch of medicine dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and diseases involving the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.

Neurologists provide routine care and management to patients with nervous system disorders using non-surgical approaches, such as medications, electrical stimulation treatment, and other therapies. They do NOT perform surgery.
