Substance Abuse Disorder

Every day, 187 people die from opioid overdose in the United States. That’s according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Unfortunately, the Wabash Valley is not immune to those numbers, but recovery is possible.

Union Health is proud to announce a new part-time addiction clinic, Union Medical Group Recovery Clinic, located in Suite 110 in the Professional Office Building in Terre Haute. It is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, but appointments are required by calling 812.238.7878.

Union Medical Group Recovery Clinic focuses on patients with opioid use disorder, a chronic disease encompassing physical and psychological impairments with serious potential consequences including disability, relapses and death.

Dr. Benjamin LaHood and his team have built a coordinated approach to fight addiction through the treatment of Suboxone, a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat narcotic dependence. Patients will also receive therapy and peer coaching services as part of their treatment.

Patients suffering from an unhealthy dependence on alcohol can also benefit from the Clinic through treatment of Vivitrol, an FDA-approved prescription injectable medicine that helps prevents relapses to alcohol or opioid dependence.
