American Nurses Credentialing Center
• Magnet designation is the highest national honor for nursing excellence. Union Hospital achieved Magnet designation as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork, and superior patient outcomes.



Union Health: 

American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
• AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines.



Union Hospital: INspire Hospital Distinction 2020

Indiana Hospital Association
• The INspire recognition program was created by IHA with a two-fold purpose. First, to encourage the adoption of processes that allow for the successful implementation of evidence-based best practices. Secondly, to provide recognition to hospitals taking steps towards excellence in areas that are key drivers of maternal and infant health. Together, we believe we can reduce Indiana’s maternal and infant mortality and achieve Governor Holcomb's state challenge to be the "Best in the Midwest” by 2024.



Union Hospital: Get with the Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus / Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite

American Heart Association / American Stroke Association
• Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
• Union Hospital additionally received the Association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite award. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke.  
Union Hospital has also met specific scientific guidelines as a Primary Stroke Center, featuring a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency department.
 


Union Hospital Endoscopy Unit & Wabash Valley Surgery Center: American Society Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Recognition Program

American Society Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
• The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy units that have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality in endoscopy as evidenced by meeting the program’s rigorous criteria, which include following the ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control guidelines and ensuring endoscopy staff competency.


Union Hospital: Anthem Blue Distinction

• Union Hospital is recognized by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction® Center+ in the area of Maternity Care. The program evaluates facilities with maternity care services that treat adult patients 18 years or older, in acute care hospitals as well as children’s hospitals that offer maternity services for adults.

• Union Hospital is a Gold Safe Sleep Champion, that includes parent education on safe sleep with a goal of reducing unsafe sleep-associated infant deaths.

Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health
• Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health is a nationwide collaborative focused on safe maternal health, quality outcomes, and reduction of maternal mortality. AIM tracks quality outcomes and promotes the development of clear, evidence-based policies and protocols, education, timely treatment, and mindful care.



Union Hospital: Commission of Cancer

American College of Surgeons
• To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. CoC-accredited cancer centers take multidisciplinary approaches to treat cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other cancer specialists. This multidisciplinary partnership results in improved patient care.
