For many years, the Wabash River was seen as a tool for an industrialized city. In recent years, however, the community collectively began transforming older perceptions into a new way of embracing this natural resource. Today, there are new walking and riding trails, crew rowing, kayaking and fishing. Development along the Wabash River continues with a new pathway extension from Downtown Terre Haute that includes plans for an overlook site at the river.
